Pac-Master

Pac-Master is the protagonist of the Pac-Master series and known as a hero all across his fair land. But before he was a illustrious protector of all things good, he worked a draining 9-5 just like the rest of us. He would clock in, clock out, day after day. It just goes to show that maybe the real hero is people like you and me. Only Pac-Master isn’t people. He’s some sort of orange-ish circle thing. And a hero. Which has got to pay well if he was able to leave his full time wage behind while raising his son as a single father. Maybe he pawned off that medal The Mayor gave him? It had to be worth something.

Uncle Pac

pac-master

It might not seem like it, but Uncle Pac is the greatest war hero who’s ever lived. Move over Dunlop! He’s fought in every war that he’s been alive to fight in, and is always first in, first out. He has twelve medals of valor, and would wear them all the time if he owned any clothes. It’s perhaps this incredible record that is why Pac-Master looks up to him, but it doesn’t explain why he hates his nephew so much. It’s probably a plain old personality class.

Pac Junior

pacjunior

Pac Junior is Pac-Master’s son. He’s 10 years old and wants to be a hero just like his father, even if he worries about his dad’s safety in the line of creepie fighting (as well he should – his Dad dies on the regular!) Pac Junior is very insecure about his annoying squeaky voice but is cursed with the knowledge that as a character in a video game, he will never age into adulthood.

PacKill

packill

PacKill is Pac-Master’s arch nemesis! Of course we’re well familiar with his numerous battles with Pac-Master, but where did this rivalry start? Well, PacKill (born Pac Robert Kill) grew up on a small farm in Ohio before moving out to the big city to start his own business. Unfortunately this was right around the time of the big Pac Street Crash of ‘72 and his company suffered a hostile takeover by none other than Pac-Master’s employer! Pac-Master was just a phone drone there, but during this already horrible process, he left PacKill on hold for over 40 minutes only to then accidently hang up on him. Accident or not, PacKill went on to use what he had left to fund an evil empire built on killing Pac-Master.

See above.

King Smargie

Ruling over the smargie fortress north-west-east of Pacville is the King Smargie, who was beloved by his fellow smargies. Unlike most smargies he did not have a perplexing undying allegiance to PacKill. However, his subjects did, and in wanting to represent his kingdom he agreed to help destroy Pac-Master before he could make his way to the Pacwerewolf lair. Unfortunately, this ended in the fair King and every single one of his subjects being destroyed by Pac-Master. So at the end of the day it was probably a bad call. Also he is a red smargie which means he is fast.

Rat Mother

rat mother

The Rat Mother is a single mother raising a family of several thousand baaabies all on her own. Sure, she pops them out every 10 seconds or so, but what is she to do? She’s got strangers invading her home every darn time someone wants to go from Uncle Pac’s house to PacKill’s prison and the stress is surely getting to her. You’d think Pac-Master would be more sympathetic to her circumstances. What she needs is a cup of tea and a nice sit down, not battles to the death every time she needs to feed her young.

BEEP BOOP BEEP BEEP BZZZZZZZZ!!!!!

Pac Junior Clone (Big)

rat mother

Pac Junior Clone (Big) is an exact clone of Pac-Junior, only he is big and insane. Otherwise, he’s pretty much a 1:1 copy, with all the same thoughts, feelings, hopes, dreams and memories. From his point of view, he was kidnapped and woke up in a cloning lab! Perhaps had he and Pac-Master talked through their problems, a calm could have overtaken them both and Pac-Master could have walked away with an entire extra son. He’d need to extend the doorways at home, and find space for another double bed, but the love they’d have found would have well and truly outweighed the renovation costs.

The Spirit

the spirit

This strange entity, known only as the Spirit, was trapped in a secret prison by PacKill. How PacKill did that, who knows. Who even knows what this Spirit is? Is he from our world, or somewhere else? What is his purpose? What powers does he possess? Maybe those questions will finally be answered in Pac-Master 7 or something.

The Mayor

the mayor

The Mayor, known only as The Mayor, is the mayor of PacVille, a strange and mysterious village about 10 minutes down the road from Pac-Master’s house (which itself is a short drive away from PacKill’s evil lair). He was elected as The Mayor in 1980 and was re-elected every election cycle out of fear of the Pacwerewolf driving a desire for the familiar among the locals. It was actually Pac-Master defeating the Pacwerewolf that saw the peoples of PacVille voting in a new The Mayor as an attempt to uproot the entrenched powers of their village (also, he looks like an egg). The Mayor regrets asking for his help to this day.

Pac-Mistress

pac-mistress

Pac-Mistress is NOT related to Pac-Master. Unfortunately, this coincidence of a name is the most interesting thing about her. Due to a bad cold she was rendered mute during her single adventure fighting an assortment of creepies, which only helped to emphasise how dull she was, and then to make matters worse she retired after just 6 levels. She then went into the high stakes world of real estate and earned a comfortable living as a morally dubious agent. She however is giving all this up to join hero and complete stranger Pac-Master in Pacvasion Day, with her newest weapon: actually having a distinct personality! Maybe this time she'll earn higher billing than 'The Mayor'.
